GC Ultimate 2S
The GC Ultimate 2S is the wired GC Ultimate: the same GameCube-style controller as the GC Ultimate 2, without the battery and wireless. It runs HOJA firmware and is configured with HHL Gamepad Config.
Wired | USB-C, plus GameCube, N64 and SNES/NES with a Retro-C cable |
Wireless | None |
Extras | Gyro, rumble, RGB lighting, dual-stage triggers |
Buttons
The buttons follow GameCube positions, with the letters printed on them: A is the big middle button. When this site says "hold A", use the button labeled A.
Triggers are dual-stage like the original: the analog press, then a click at the bottom. When calibrating them on the Input page, press only down to the top of the membrane, not into the click. The app shows how.
Modes
Hold a button while you plug the controller in. Full table: Modes & Pairing.
Hold | Mode | For |
|---|---|---|
A | Switch | Nintendo Switch, HHL Gamepad Config |
B | Steam | PC and Steam Deck, HHL Gamepad Config |
X | XInput | Windows PCs |
Y | Slippi | Slippi / Dolphin |
D-pad Right | GameCube | A real GameCube or Wii, with a Retro-C cable |
D-pad Down | N64 | A real N64, with a Retro-C cable |
D-pad Left | SNES / NES | A real SNES or NES, with a Retro-C cable |
On a Switch 2, hold Y (the Slippi combo) while you plug it in to start GameCube mode. It works as the Switch 2's own GameCube controller, with Home, Capture and rumble, and takes no pairing slot. See Modes & Pairing.
For play on a Switch, turn on Pro Controller Wired Communication in the Switch's settings (see Modes & Pairing).
Updating
Connect to hoja.handheldlegend.com and press Update now when offered. Update mode by hand: hold ZL + Start (the left Z button) while plugging in. See Update Firmware.
When installing on a blank board, pick GC Ultimate 2S, not GC Ultimate 2: they need different firmware.
