This is the install guide for Game Boy Pocket Laminated 2.8 Inch IPS Kit by Hispeedido.

Getting Started

This kit requires the soldering of one power wire for basic functionality.

Required Tools and Parts

  • Tweezers

  • J1 (Japanese Industrial Standard) Screwdriver

  • Y1 Tri-point screwdriver

Take Inventory

Ensure you have all the parts included with your kit. See below:

The Gameboy Pocket Laminated IPS LCD Kit Includes:

    • 1x IPS Screen

    • 1x PCB

    • 1x Flex Cable

    • 4x Wires

Before You Proceed

  1. Fully disassemble your Gameboy Pocket

  2. Read our getting started guide on soldering

  3. Fully test your IPS kit before installation

  • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return. Since soldering is required for dry testing this kit, soldering the power wire (BAT) will not void the return policy. Any other soldering or install steps will void the warranty.

  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

  • You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely a included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.

Shell Modifications

We highly recommend purchasing the pre-cut shells from Hispeedido to avoid pressure issues caused by trimming the shell yourself. As per our policy, once an LCD kit has been installed, it no longer qualifies for replacements. Use the non-recommend shell at your own risk.

If you have purchased one of the shells recommended above, you can skip these shell modification steps. Non-recommended shell modifications:
