PC Power Related Disconnect Check

Power Supply Check (Windows)

Download HWiNFO

On Windows machines, you can use a free tool such as HWiNFO to view your system voltage levels.

We recommend downloading the portable version here: https://dappcdn.com/download/utilities/hwinfo

Extract and Run

Extract the .zip folder, open the folder, then run HWiNFO64.exe.

Click Start and ensure Full mode is selected.

In the top bar, click Sensors.

Scroll down until you locate the power sensors, an example is shown below:

Test

Leave the HWiNFO application running, then run a game and try to recreate the disconnecting issue. HWiNFO will keep a running record of the minimum voltage levels.

Once a disconnect occurs, close your game and examine the results.

Here’s an example of a PC that has a failing/sub-optimal power supply.

The three categories to pay attention to would be +3.3V, +12V, and +5V.

Often times, the 12V power supply is critical for the others to function correctly. In this example below, all three have significant dips, and the customer was experiencing disconnects.

Here’s one more example, where there’s only a dip on the +12V rail, and it’s significant and causing issues with the gamepad:

How to Fix

You will need to replace the power supply in your PC build with something that is correctly rated for your machine.
