V3 Backlight and Bivert
Using a 'traditional backlight' and bivert module to Illuminate your original Game Boy Display? We've got you covered.
Warnings
Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
To test this backlight, you can use a power supply, such as alligator clips or a multimeter, on the two gold contacts to turn it on. This ensures the correct color has been sent and review the backlight for any damage/defects.
LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.
Installation
Do not use cleaning agents such as alcohol. This will damage the backlight.
Install your backlight at a 5V source to keep your screen bright and avoid audio board interference.
Resistors are now built into backlights (excludes RGB - install guide here). Please skip the step in the video which shows a resistor being used.
